The gas turbine runs on natural gas. This turbine is positioned on a shaft which is connected to the power generator – this means that power is generated when the turbine turns.

The heat energy of the very hot combustion gases will also be recovered and reused by a steam-turbine: the combustion gases will be ducted through a gas utilisation boiler, where it will heat water to produce steam. The steam in turn drives a steam-turbine, which also generates electricity via a generator.
