Data and Facts
Clean energy - today and in the future
The new combined cycle power plant (CCGT) at Malenice in western part of Slovakia will start generating electricity from 2010. The gross output will be about 430 Megawatt (MW), representing a total electricity production of approximately up to 2 billion kilowatt hours (kWh). This will be used to supply over 600,000 households with electricity throughout the whole year. The power plant will be fuelled by environmentally friendly natural gas. The cooling water will be taken from the river Dudvah. The electricity generated at Malenice will be fed into the 400 kV power supply network of Slovakia. E.ON will create about 35 new jobs by setting up the E.ON Elektrárne s.r.o. plant. The project is being planned so that it can be easily extended - because E.ON is already thinking of tomorrow and the next generation.
